Adriana

I have always loved flowers, so much that when I was a child one of my wildest dream was a large English garden of my own, the sort of garden that seem spontaneous but respond to strict control.

Then life took my hand and dreams, as you know, can come true.

Now I take care of the six hectares of land surrounding the farmhouse. It is my kingdom, it is where I spend most of the time, between open-field kitchen gardens, greenhouses, orchards and a part of our vineyards. The bulk of the vineyards comes from our maternal family and is located in Cisterna d'Asti, in the heart of Roero.

Ousmane and I, my assistant, directly follow all the processes from planting to harvesting, from pruning fruit trees and vineyards, to the harvest.

It is not an easy life, but if it rains we rest, and in winter we recharge the batteries, in perfect symbiosis with nature.

Our company has been organic and certified since 1993. We have chosen to respect nature and the land that gives us food, so we have never used chemical, fungicidal or herbicidal soil improvers. Our products do not need shortages to be consumed, they can be tasted directly from the plant.

That's why what we bring to the table is so good.

THE STORE

Our store is open for purchases directly in the farm.

We also deliver every Wednesday from March to December for orders received before 10:30 on Wednesday.

Delivery is free for a minimum order of €20.

Tell us how you prefer to receive our newsletter (email or WhatsApp), and you will be informed every week with the price list of all the products available (savory cuisine, sweet cuisine, vegetable gardens and the pastry) and with all our news and initiatives.

THE BEEHIVE THAT SAYS YES

For many years we serve the Beehive of Alba, Bra and Savigliano.

What is a Beehive That Says Yes? It is a market that begins in a virtual way and ends in a practical way.

You choose and pay for the products from an online catalog, and on the established day and time (always the same every week), you collect them in a physical place by meeting the producers directly.

What can you buy?

Everything from pasta to bread, meats and cheeses. We sell products from our garden, freshly picked up or processed into sauces and jams, wine, homemade pasta, biscuits.

We think this is a clever way to avoid large-scale distribution by satisfying everyone: consumers enjoy it because they buy very fresh, zero kilometers and high quality products at advantageous prices; producers are happy because they only have to transport pre-sold goods.

Winegrowers for a day

Winegrowers for a day

Winegrowers for a day

"Good wine is made in the vineyard", grandmother always said.

I heard the same statement from great winemakers and read it in the winemaking manuals. It is a concept that everyone agrees: great wines start from the decisions that are taken in the vineyard: leave the grass between the rows? Weed? Uncover the bunches to get more sun? Repair them with vine leaves? Reduce their quantity to have a more selected production? Yes, but what if it hails and I loose all my harvest?

In reality, pruning is the real trump card of a good winemaker: you have to choose the only branch that will bear fruit, but it is not enough to think about the first harvest to come, it is essential to plan the next one too.

We must work for the present but with a watchful eye to the future, play our cards well and learn from mistakes, use pruning shears (tesoire da pué) with the competence of those who know well what can be eliminated and what must live.

It is a fascinating world, where you can immerse yourself for a day.

A DAY IN THE VINEYARD

9:30 am Transfer to one of our vineyards in the Roero
From 10:00 to 12:30 The operations to the vineyard are carried out together, according to season
At 13:00 Picnic among the rows, in the shade of a large tree. We'll spread a tablecloth on the ground, open the barachin (i.e. the basket) and devour everything inside. I assure you that nothing will taste like the food eaten in the vineyard. What will we drink? But wine, of course, the one made out of our vineyards. In the meantime we chat, exchange opinions, talk about life, and then, reluctantly,
At 15:00 We return, after having understood "in the field" what really is in a glass of wine.
At 16:00 Visit to our cellar and taste of wine tapped from the barrel
When From March to October, by reservation

THE CELLAR

to understand what's in the barrels, how and when it got there and what transformations the grapes underwent from the harvest to the wine. You will discover a secret world that will fascinate you and will be the starting point for a more conscious love for a product that has something magical about it.

THE VINEYARD

If time and weather permit, we will visit the vineyard to understand the continuous work that brings the vine to ripen its fruits.

THE TASTING

Finally, glasses and something good to eat await us to accompany the tasting of the wines from our cellar. Aromas, perfumes, flavours, colours, combinations, wine is so rich that we will be able to amaze even the most expert.

ONLY FOR SCHOOLS

Cascina Papa Mora has been recognized and credited by the Piedmont Region, and is part of the Educazione alla Campagna Amica (Appreciation of the Countryside) project.

We have been committed to this program for years, in order to bring the rural world closer to the city world through school children.

Knowing the work necessary to produce food means respecting it and learning to eat properly.

Knowing agriculture allows children to appreciate and preserve the environment in which they live.

Teachers can choose from these activities:

  • Knights for a day
The instructors of Scuderie Papa Mora ASD), our equestrian association, will reveal to children every secret of the horse: how it lives, how it behaves, what it eats ... and then everyone up in the saddle!
  • As good as bread
At the end of the day the kids will bring home the little loaf they have prepared.
  • I made a tart
After collecting and processing the fruit. At the end of the day the kids will bring their tart home.
  • The lawn in the plate
Recognition and collection of wild herbs from the meadow, with which the omelette will be made and tasted for lunch.
  • The silver beetle
Instructive game that has the aim of observation and sampling the territory. From 8 years old children.
duration of the project Half day or full day
